MacroMania

Privacy Policy

Effective November 1, 2026

The short version. Your food log, water, body check-ins, progress photos and Apple Health data stay on your iPhone. We don't run ads, we don't use analytics or tracking, and we never sell your data. The only things that leave your phone are (1) the barcode or food name you look up, sent to public nutrition databases, and (2) if you choose to use Family sharing, your email address, display name and the foods you share.

This policy explains what the MacroMania app for iPhone and Apple Watch (the "app") does with your information. "We" and "us" mean the developer of MacroMania.

Information that stays on your device

Everything you enter in the app is stored on your iPhone in the app's private storage and is not sent to us:

This data is included in your device backups (iCloud or computer) according to your own backup settings. Deleting the app deletes this data from your phone.

Apple Health

With your permission, the app reads steps, active energy, workouts, sleep and body weight from Apple Health to show your daily progress and weekly report. The app does not write to Apple Health on your iPhone.

Food lookups

When you scan a barcode or search for a food, the app sends only the barcode number or search text to these public nutrition databases to find nutrition facts:

No name, email, health data or account identifier is sent with these lookups. Like any website, these services can see your device's IP address when they receive a request; their own privacy policies apply. Restaurant nutrition estimates use data built into the app and do not send anything.

Family sharing (optional)

Family sharing lets you share ingredients and meals with people you cook for. It is off unless you sign in. If you sign in, we store the following on our database provider, Supabase:

WhatWhy
Your email addressTo sign you in with a one-time code sent by email
Your display name and family nameSo family members can see who is in the family and who changed a shared food
Ingredients and meals you choose to shareSo they appear on your family members' phones
Invite codesSo people can join your family

Your food log, health data, photos and measurements are never uploaded, even when you are signed in. Shared foods are visible only to members of your family.

Weekly report emails

The weekly report is sent from your own Mail app, to the addresses you choose, only when you tap Send. We don't receive a copy. You can also share the PDF yourself.

Camera and photos

The camera is used to scan barcodes and take progress photos. Photos you choose from your library are copied into the app for your check-ins. Photos stay on your device unless you send them yourself in a weekly report.

What we don't do

Deleting your data

Data retention and security

Family sharing data is kept until you delete your account, leave the family, or the family owner deletes it. Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and protected by access rules so that only members of a family can read its shared foods.

Children

MacroMania is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed in to Family sharing, contact us and we will delete the account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Union), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you. Because almost all of your data stays on your phone, you already control it. For anything stored for Family sharing, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Not medical advice

MacroMania is a tracking tool. Nutrition values, restaurant estimates and calorie goals are approximate and are not medical advice. Talk to a doctor or registered dietitian before starting a diet or exercise program.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app.
